Veg BusinessPosted By ShalomVeg member Eliana L. I’ve oftentimes found myself engaged in discussions with fellow Jews about vegetarianism. Many cannot understand how I can be both Jewish and a vegetarian. “Aren’t we commanded by God to eat meat?” they ask. “Isn’t keeping Kosher enough? How can you be Jewish without steak, or chicken, or matzoh ball soup?” Even without getting into a theological debate over kashrut, or the story of Noah, or the Garden of Eden, many Jews state that fleishich foods are just such a part of our culture. We are a people that enjoy food, that eat to celebrate our holidays and simchas. Even some vegetarians may miss those comfort foods they enjoyed as a child, sharing meals with their families on Friday nights. What if you could enjoy these foods without compromising your vegetarian integrity? What if you could show your non- vegetarian friends that your lifestyle can go hand in hand with your Jewish culture?
Imagine a restaurant that has vegan versions of your favorite meat foods that are easy to prepare and ready to share with others. That place exists at VeggieBrothers.com. Veggie Brothers was started by Mark Rasmussen, an internationally acclaimed Vegan chef, and Michael Balducci, a vegetarian athlete who is dedicated to helping others live a healthier lifestyle. They have created the first online vegan restaurant with over thirty menu items including buffalo wings, meatballs, hamburgers, chicken cacciatore, meatloaf, mahi mahi steak, and many other delicious creations that are vacum-sealed and frozen for easy re-heating. Mark and Michael truly believe that they can change the way people eat. If one person eats their high-protein, natural, healthy food every once and a while instead of meat, s/he is making a small change that can help his/her diet and the world. The food is easy to prepare and easy to love, and though it’s not hechshured, it is 100% vegan (completely pareve.) Bring this food to the table; enjoy the food you love while getting the nutrition you need. Have something to cook when vegetarian friends come over to visit. Use the food at VeggieBrothers.com to make a positive change in your life! (And trust me, it’s delicious!) |
